Cooper's Hawk (also known as Big Blue Darter, Chicken Hawk, or Hen Hawk)

Cooper's Hawks are medium-sized forest hawks renowned for their incredible agility in high-speed flight through dense trees. Adults feature steel-blue-gray backs and wings with distinctive reddish-orange barring on the underparts and a barred tail. Their piercing red eyes and rounded tails are classic field marks.

Pale greyish-white background featuring distinctive horizontal dark grey or brownish-grey barred transverse bands across the upper vane.

Pennaceous at the distal tip with tightly interlocked barbs, transitioning to plumulaceous (fluffy, downy) barbs near the base where a small afterfeather is visible.
