The Mourning Dove is a medium-sized, slender-tailed dove with a delicate appearance, soft grey-brown plumage, and distinctive black spots on the wings. Known for its plaintive, mournful cooing calls, it is one of the most abundant and widely distributed birds across North America, frequently visiting backyard bird feeders and open ground.
