Mourning Dove (also known as Carolina Dove or Rain Crow)

The Mourning Dove is a slender, medium-sized dove with a graceful tail and a soft, gentle appearance. Its plumage is predominantly muted grayish-brown with black spots on the wings and dark-bordered spots on the tail feathers. Known for its plaintive, owl-like cooing calls and rapid, whistling flight, it is one of the most widely distributed and abundant birds across the continent.
