The Mourning Dove is a slender-tailed, small-headed dove with a graceful, streamlined shape. Known for its soft, plaintive cooing calls and rapid, whistling flight, it is one of the most abundant and familiar birds across North America. Its plumage is generally muted grey-brown with iridescent pinkish-bronze patches on the neck and distinctive black spots on the wings
