Belted Kingfisher

The Belted Kingfisher is a stocky, medium-sized waterbird with a large head, shaggy crest, and long, heavy, pointed bill. Its upperparts are a striking powdery blue-gray, making this bicolored feather instantly recognizable as part of its protective dorsal plumage. They are famous for their loud, rattling calls and hovering dives.
