Mourning Dove (Carolina Dove, Rain Crow)

The Mourning Dove is a slender, medium-sized dove with a graceful long tail and a small head. Its plumage is predominantly soft grayish-brown with black spots on the wings and iridescent pinkish-bronze patches on the neck. Known for its distinctive, mournful cooing vocalization, it is one of the most abundant and widely distributed birds in North America.
